33.8 Million Fans Tune in – Most-Watched Show of TV Season

NFL Games Account for 4 of 5 Most-Watched Shows of TV Season

NFL Games Top Ratings in 28 NFL Markets

Sunday’s CBS doubleheader game featuring the New England Patriots (8-0) at the Indianapolis Colts (7-0) was viewed by 33.8 million fans – ranking as the most-watched regular-season game on an NFL Sunday since at least 1987 (Nielsen Media Research viewership numbers unavailable beyond that date).

The New England-Indianapolis game topped the week’s second-most watched show by 12.4 million viewers (Dancing with the Stars, 21.4 million viewers) and is the most-watched show on TV since the Academy Awards on ABC on February 25, 2007 (40.4 million viewers).

Since the NFL season kicked off on Sept. 6, NFL games account for four of the five most-watched programs on television
